Community is at the heart of Friends of Lafitte Greenway's work. We believe that people make the Greenway great, and work to empower diverse community leaders in programming and development on the Greenway.

The Greenway’s Community includes people who live, learn, work, worship, and play in the neighborhoods within ¼ mile of the Greenway, and the people who use it.

Our Community Engagement Team

Greenway Ambassadors

Ambassadors are deeply engaged community leaders who drive the Greenway's programming and development, and lead our community engagement work. Friends recruits and trains 5-8 new Ambassadors each year to represent the Greenway within their neighborhood, gather ideas and feedback, promote Greenway events and programs, and work collaboratively on a community-driven project of their choose. Streets Team

Comprised of volunteers who live, work, worship or play in the neighborhoods around the Greenway, the Greenway Streets team hits the streets with flyers, surveys, and information about the Greenway, and helps us build and maintain relationships with community hubs such as churches, neighborhood associations, social aid and pleasure clubs, barber shops, and more. Join the Streets Team by emailing [email protected].

Brain Trust

Community leaders, topical experts, and partners who give advice and feedback on projects, programs, and improvements on an as-needed basis.  Have a nomination for our Brain Trust? Reach out to Sophie Vorhoff at [email protected].
